STEFANA/WEDDING CROWNS/WEDDING WREATHS

Our stefana are beautifully handcrafted in Greece by expert jewellery artisans with decades of experience.  Attention to detail, intricately designed, each set is as stunning as the next.

They are Sterling Silver 925 and all our wedding crowns have been subjected to a special process which prevents them from tarnishing or losing their brightness.  A guarantee is provided by the manufacturer.

Historically, wedding wreaths were fashioned from branches and flowers.  Today, they are an art on their own.

Whether you are looking for classic or modern settings, pearls, Swarovski crystals, porcelain flowers, olive leaf design, Grecian key design, plain silver, gold or ultimate bling, you are sure to find the right wedding wreaths here at Vada Creations.

Our wedding crowns/stefana are joined together with a ribbon symbolising joining two people as one.  During the crowning ceremony, the stefana are placed on the heads of the couple, which are then crossed over three times by the Koumbaro/Koumbara in honour of the holy trinity.

What is the significance of the Stefana?
In an Orthodox ceremony, the bride and groom are crowned as King and Queen of their newly created family entrusted by God, hence the reason for the crowns.

How to choose your Stefana!
When choosing your stefana, you may want to consider the following:
*  Your wedding gown style and colour
*  Your Bridal jewellery
*  Do you have a theme for the wedding eg. vintage, romantic, grecian, etc
*  Colour theme
*  Personal taste

All the above play a part in choosing your wedding crowns.

What do you do with the wedding crowns after the ceremony?
Traditionally, the stefana are displayed in a crown case called a stefanothiki and is usually hung above the marital bed of the couple.
Many couples now choose to display their crowns in display cabinets in their bedrooms or living rooms or they place them in frames together with their bouquets which have been preserved.

There are many denominations of the Orthodox church eg. Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Serbian Orthodox, Romanian Orthodox, Syrian Orthodox, etc – we all have the crowning ceremony.
Some of these churches have their own crown sets which the couples can use.
